Gulaal Hindi Movie [2009]



After making film like No Smoking Anurag Kashyap releasing in consecutive months. While ‘Dev D’ arrives on 7th February, ‘Gulaal’, the project closest to Anurag Kashyap’s heart, is eying a 13th March release.

Apparently, ‘Gulal’ took shape in 2001, when Anurag Kashyap was listening to songs from Pyaasa and ‘Paanch’ was struggling with censors. Inspired by a song from Pyaasa, ‘Yeh duniya agar mil bhi jaaye to kya hai’, the film is a dedication to Sahir Ludhianwi, the lyricist of the song and all other poets who had a vision of India.Mahie Gill Dancing for the mujra track “Ranaji” in “Gulaal” too.

Maan GAye Mughall-E-Azam is a comedy about how a small town Drama Company gets involved in a mission to save the country Circa 1993. The country was burning due to the Babri structure demolition and communal riots. A small town like St.Louise near Goa, Where Police, CBI and RAW officers were put on high alert due to illegal activities like bomb making materials and all, landing at the coastal area!! A Theatre group of self indulged dreamy actors who are always left with no choice but to perform the same age old period play ‘Mugall-E-Azam’ every time also placed in that area. One day, they come to know that, an underworld don is planning a severe bomb blast in the country. It’s a story, which saves the entire Nation from the Big Bomb blasts in a hilarious slapstick climax.
